I believe I called this one...

That is a pretty shocking pick, especially since Buerhle is not the type of pitcher that you would ever expect to get a no-no... He is a low velocity, contact/grounball pitcher that doesn't usually strike a ton of guys out. With a pitcher that relies on his defence to get most of his outs, its stunning that just one of those balls didn't sneak through the infield somehow.

I've never witnessed a no-hitter in my life...

[/ QUOTE ]seriously?

Yeah, I'm 26, I've been watching baseball since I was 12 for the most part.... I would say 95% of all games I watch are the White Sox, so chances are, I was never gonna see one till my boys threw it (Or gave it up)... and this was the 1st since since '91, I was just 10 then. I've also been umpiring for 10 years, I do rec league and High school, at these age groups its hard enough for them to turn a double play, and even harder to find a pitcher that can actually find the strike zone consistantly, or go a complete a game.

I did however have a triple play in a game I umped. Pretty sweet, and SUPER rare for 16 year-olds.

you never saw wilson alvarez's no-no back in the 90s?

Shenanigans! Given that my objection was that he normally doesn't strike out enough guys, he has to go out and strike 8 to get the no-hitter.

This was only his 10th start with 8+ Ks.

Casey...when did the fans start to "realize" he had a no-no? When did the buzz begin in the stands?

Aside from the 6 Sox runs, I'm guessing the game was boring until everyone realized it could get REALLY exciting potentially.

This is why baseball rules so much harder than any other sport. Way way more drama than the other majors.
