Why do you live there?
Sooga made a post earlier this week about what the highlight of your workday is: Link
I didn't tally, but it seemed the majority of posters replied with non-working activities (sarcasm or no?). The stereotype I am used to is that you live where your job is, so I'm trying to investigate this a little. Please choose what you feel is the most important factor for why you are living in your particular town/city. And I'm not referring to the 600 block of 1st St., but more generally, like the metropolitan region, or country even if you're an expat. I'm not interested so much in your particular city, but rather the main reason why you live there. Are you happy with your primary reason, for example you might dislike your job but you still live in the same city. |

Re: Why do you live there?
I went with "Physical environment (location, climate)" because it's why I'm moving to SD. If I answer with Pittsburgh, it's "It's my hometown (or proximity to family)"

Re: Why do you live there?
I sometimes question why I'm living in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Even if my job wasn't here, and I played poker for a living, I still probably wouldn't move. Culture, atmosphere, activities, night life, and friends make me think that there's no other place I'd rather live at this point.

Re: Why do you live there?
I went with spouse's job -- if she hadn't have become a professor here, I'd much rather have stayed in the DC area.

I remember a family member telling me "living within 50 miles of NYC are the only real people in the world". While I tend to agree with that from cultural and physical experiences, I am way too much of a pu.ssy to withstand another cold, rainy, snowy day in the northeast. I, like Iggy, am moving to San Diego for the weather (Round 2), proximity to friends, and closeness to L.A./Vegas. my two cents. fyc |
