Smoking weed affects play?

Im a very serious student of the game of poker, but I do make a lot of mistakes that cost me a lot of money. Do you guys think that smoking weed has any affect on your game when you are sober (but have smoked within 24 hours). Should I stop smoking regularly 4-5 times a week if I truly aspire to be a top player? I play about 5 days a week.

i drink and it affects my play...i usually play better in cash games with some beer...and worse in tourneys...cause it lossens my play up a lot

i smoke more than 4-5 times a week and i dont feel that it affects my play ,,,,i do reserve smoking for the night time when im done playing poker and im ready to chill tho ..i would imagine if i smoked during the day i wouldnt get anything done ...ever

Yeah, what he said. I don't think it has the same affect as actually being drunk, but day after weed head is a hinderance multitabling, IMHO.

I smoke but I never will, again anyway, go play high. I crush a local tourney of 40-50 ppl $40 buy in. Local bar so 90% of the people are out drinking. As the tourney wears on the end game only gets easier because they are half drunk and making way poor decisions. I went high once and busted out early. I don't know if it effected my play but I know I couldn't concentrate on the people. Couldn't pick up their tells that are so obvious normally.

It sure makes it easier grinding out sng's, and since those are so robotic i dont think it affects my play too much. i'd say the volume i play when high makes up for anything i lose by playing stoned.

Amen. Although, I do smoke when I play frequently (never during work/daytime) and I find it helps me connect with the Zen principles and helps me to fold more frequently, be more patient and be more deliberate/less bored.

Bottom line ... every drug (alcohol, THC, nicotine, anti-histamines, etc) has a different effect on different people. If you think it's affecting your game, it probably is.

Supposedly marijuana negatively affects your short term memory. I cannot imagine that compliments poker play well.
