Default Re: WinStar\'s new room opened?

My last hand of the night i had KK UTG and I raise it.

Guy in cut off calls and big blind calls. CO has 96 offsuit and BB has 95 offsuit. Flop comes 994. Turn is an 8 and BB raises. I only have a few dollars left so I call down and surprised to see both of them with trip 9s and that the CO played it slow the whole way. He then commented how the queen on the river scared him because he thought i may have had pocket queens.

I feel that in games like this that drawing hands are only worth playing. Pretty sad when I'm in BB with a T2 offsuit and the flop comes TT6 I bet and get 4 callers. Turn is a 9 I fear 78 or a ten with better kicker so i check and everyone else checks river comes queen. So I'm thinking does could one of these guys have KJ? I bet and everyone folds except for one guy who just calls. I wasnt surprised at all to see him turn over KJ.

Might as well be going all in each hand in a game like that.

I ran that one in pokerstove and he had less than a 4% chance of making his runner runner straight, practically a one outer

I also recognized one of the guys there that I've played with at a $1/$2 NL table at choctaw once. He stood out because I remember him calling my $20 bet on the flop followed by my $40 bet on turn with only a gutshot straight draw with three hearts on the board. He was check calling, I was on the button bluffing and putting him on some sort of draw. I only had king high but his 74o caught the straight. I checked river realizing several draws have been completed. So I was left short stacked with about $30 left and I am UTG with AA. I limp in waiting for a raise. And button raises. I move all in and he calls fairly quickly.

Flop Q46. I'm thinking nothing too scary. Turn was an A. I'm feeling pretty good about now. River was a six. I'm thinking I got the nuts! So I'm halfway paying attention waiting for the pot then I hear people at the table asking about bad beat jackpots and stuff before I realize that he has quad sixes.

I guess poker is all luck.

I am playing at WinStar on Monday for the $100+15 tourney. Hime, I heard you've played in it before.

You hear incorrectly. I haven't played hand one of NLHE live in months. Never liked the variance, and my NLHE game kinda went to [censored] anyway.

A quick note to DFW B&M folks. I am starting a thread in Home Poker trying to set up a home game (probably Omaha). Go there and tell me if you are interested.

I guess over time, these people lose money. The schooling of bad players at the table does have an effect on good play, but to what extent? There's plenty of discussion on this topic...and I'm still pouring over what others say about this.

With numerous bad players, do you try to force them out best you can to reduce the suck-out factor? I tossed A-rag with top pair, an Ace came on the flop, because of the four callers who followed me to the river. I folded to a river bet by one of the four (my mistake, I admit it.) One of those four had to have me beat, right? Top pair lousy kicker doesn't work so well with so many possible suckouts. Of course, on this particular occasion, my top pair was good. Three of the four missed their weak draws, and the winner had bottom pair. I guess I got outplayed...I should have stayed with my TPWK...but I've lost so many hands staying with top pair in these situations. Raising does little good to tell you where you're at, and it sure doesn't force bad players out.

So, here's my question...which I know has been addressed a lot in this forum. Assuming a small stakes game: "How do you play medium to strong hands in multiway pots with numerous bad players on weak draws?" For example, I'm thinking medium to strong pocket pairs have less +EV than suited connectors. Thus KK UTG is going to be shot down by a fair share of bad players on drawing hands. Pocket Aces are probably not that strong either, against numerous chasers. It appears that high suited cards are a premium hand, maybe better than a big pocket pair.

Have you played in it before? I don't know what to expect. I used to be a SNG specialist before Party was off limits. I haven't played alot of live tournaments. Most of the cash games I've played at WinStar have been ultra loose.
