I reviewed one of Foxterri's party SNGs today and also got some help from Gnumz and VanStrummer who are all in the wonderful #stt channel on IRC. I think we got it pretty much covered but still we decided to post it in the forum for everybody to discuss. So here it is:

<Klinzmann> Here I would limp. Picking up the blinds here doesn't add much to your stack, you would rather hope to see a cheap flop and hopefully spike a set. JJ is a raising hand though.

<Gnumsploitz`> I'd have Foxterri note that limping also keeps him from folding out hands that he'd rather not
<Gnumsploitz`> like something with K8 on a 862 flop. fill in the blanks there
<Gnumsploitz`> there's a ton of weird junk hands that he could stack with an overpair or set situation
<Gnumsploitz`> you know this concept, but he may not
<Gnumsploitz`> overall, I think limping increases the double up from moran equity

<VanStrummer> I like a raise here in position.

<Klinzmann> I think limping here is better than folding, again we are limping to flop a set. I would stop limping low pocket pairs UTG at 50/100 level.

<Gnumsploitz`> 22 fold is fine at higher buyins, but I think limp is better at the party 11s for certain

<VanStrummer> I usually limp here if table is passive. If there has been a lot of raising I fold. Probably don't matter much either way.

<Klinzmann> Raise to 250 preflop instead of 350. 250 has almost the same effect as 350 but you are saving 100 chips. Push on the flop is okay since it's such a draw heavy board, I wouldn't mind a standard continuation bet of 2/3 the pot either.

<Gnumsploitz`> you explained the t250 concept well, re: the same fold equity
<Gnumsploitz`> you understand the conservation of chips.
<Gnumsploitz`> hopefully Foxterri will as well
<Gnumsploitz`> I don't like the shove on the flop so much. looks like 2x pot
<Gnumsploitz`> he gets nice value from the morans that love to get it in with top pair, but I don't know how often he gets called with worse than KQ
<Gnumsploitz`> maybe QJ
<Gnumsploitz`> I think he gets more value by making a standard cbet
<Gnumsploitz`> 2/3 pot looks fine on that board
<Gnumsploitz`> anyway, I think he's folding out too much with a flop shove
<Gnumsploitz`> and at an 11, he's absolutely getting called if he's beat
<Gnumsploitz`> you get more value for making them pay to draw, tho
<Gnumsploitz`> as long as you're using correct betsizing
<Klinzmann> but you risk your tournament life
<Klinzmann> which sucks
<Gnumsploitz`> depends.
<Gnumsploitz`> I'm not always gonna stack off if a bad scare card hits.
<Gnumsploitz`> I guess a weaker postflop player might be better off shoving
<Gnumsploitz`> that's not directed towards you.

<VanStrummer> Yes raise 250-300 preflop here. I prefer pot sized bet on flop and push turn, but push here is fine.

<Klinzmann> Again, a 350 raise here is spewing. Raise to 250 and call the allin unless you know it's a real tight player. There are only four hands that beats you here and you don't mind taking a coinflip as you have chips to afford it.

<Klinzmann> You are even in chips and 85s is the kind of hand you would like to see a flop with. You played it fine postflop.

<Klinzmann> This is spewing. You have under 10 bb so it's either push or fold. In this case you should push, SNGPT gives an ev diff of 0.9% if we put LittleA5 to call with 44+,A7s,A9o+,KQs,KQo which is very loose. If he is any good at all he should call a lot tighter here.

<Klinzmann> Check preflop is fine, a push is not bad but the blinds are a bit too low for that.
<Klinzmann> Bet out on the flop, basically any turn card will scare you. Your push on the turn is an overbet, a smaller raise would probably get the same job done without risking your tournament life.

<Klinzmann> This is what I'm talking about. If you minraise you have to call a push. Here you are giving away lots of chips for free.
