I have a dell E310 that I want to reinstall the OS on and have a couple of questions about backing things up first.
-Can I just back up the driver file to an external source or will I need to have installer programs for them all? -How do I backup my PT dabase to an external source? Thanks |

Get all your drivers and installer programs from the Dell support site. Save them all to a cd or USB thumb drive. How big is your PT database? I don;t use PT, but I can't image the file structure is very complex. If it's big I'd burn it to a DVD or an external drive. I'll let some of the PT experts answer that one though.

[/ QUOTE ] Careful. If you're using SQL with PT, you won't find your database in the folder at all. Check the Software forum with a quick "+Pokertracker +Backup" search and I'm sure you'll find plenty. |

PT uses a SQL component? Then yeah, you'll have to grab a few different directories.

After you get the OS reinstalled and everything setup you may want to consider making a backup of the entire drive (os included). That way in say a year or so or if you have a crash or something you can easily reinstall. Check out the last post in this thread for some info on Acronis. You can basically do this for free, as the 15 day trial of Acronis allows you to make bootup media and perform backups during the trial period. One thing to note though -- I was not able to successfully backup onto DVD, so I would recommend backing up using a USB drive or a slave HD.
