Actually, for that hand, the host SHOULD enforce the house rule, even if incorrect. The rules that the hand started under should remain in place.

AFTER the hand, the rule should be changed.

Although that's probably a good idea, changing the rule at the point we talked about it would have been fine under the circumstances. The all-in player was under the gun and no players had yet to act when we debated the rule.
