I can't help thinking that if Gore or Kerry would've won their respective elections, the world would've been a better place.

One might argue that Bush was dealt a difficult 8 years, but his trigger-happy style of leadership has not been working at all.

These people are thinking in terms of WWII circa early 1945: lots of people are still dying, but the cause is just and we're going to win. To this kind of person, the War on Terror is morally equivalent to WWII and sacrifices need to be made.

Not by much. If you really want a better world, it's time to look beyond the Dumb & Dumber parties, otherwise it's half dozen in one or 6 in another ... just depends on the flavor of wars, thefts, and lip service (rather than real change) you prefer.

Actually, I think a sizeable minority are thinking in terms of Armageddon and Jesus coming on back. including, possibly, some of the people making the decisions.
