My Campus is getting shot up.

I feel so horrible about this. All I can do is offer my deepest apologies to all of those affected.

Its really strange how for some reason a college shooting in the states really rattles me (Cdn citizen). If I hear about some leftist group in africa killing 50 people I obviously am not happy about it, but not nearly as distraught as I am right now. This is truly horrible. I wonder what sort of pyschopath would try to kill as many people as he could before , ultimately , commiting suicide.

Is this all a case of self loathing and pity? or did the killer want attention?

Yeah, my roommate had a class in there. It was moved somewhere else, and classes across the rest of campus continued as normal. I didn't think much of it because I heard about it after lunch and the shooter was dead at the time, but while I was reading this thread I was thinking about it. Obv the "9:55 gunman loose" and classes not being canceled for half an hour is messed up, but I dunno if VT was following SOP for most campuses or what.

I think pointing fingers at the administration at this time is silly. There is always an outcry after such events to find somewhere to place the blame. The campus had heightened security and a major police presence following the initial incident though it would now seem hindsight is 20/20. Any staff involved in the decision making process obviously had no malevolent intention and I would think the guilt felt for the events that happened today would be devestating. I'm not sure what justice people would be hoping to find by prosecuting them.

Not much to add except that I'm a recent VT alumni and am pretty shocked to see all this footage of places I used to go less than a year ago. I don't think anyone I knew personally was hit, but I've heard at least one friend who knew one of the victims.
