Default Stud 8/b tourney advice

How do you approach the begining of 8/b tourney's? From a cash game perspective I do very well and in my experiences playing cash HORSE on FTP I also do very well. I'm curious if a cash game strategy is something to be avoided in 8/b tourneys?

Fairly tight, until you get clear reads on your opponents.

You don't jam with draws as much as you would in a cash game (unless your opponents are weak-tight tournament players who overvalue survival), passing up some EV for lower variance. You should also be more inclined to fold more speculative marginal hands that you might sometimes play in a cash game.

Sklansky's TPFAP is a good book for the difference between cash game and tournament strategy in limit tournaments.
