i never really understood why people in these situations hardly ever fight back. actually i do, and its pretty sad

[/ QUOTE ]

you dont understand what it is like. Prented you're at your computer and someone kicks down the door and starts shooting. Now react.

[/ QUOTE ]

I imagine it would be almost impossible to coordinate with people while you are down on the ground waiting to be executed and probably told to be quiet or they would kill you. Also, the first person who leads the charge would be killed and I doubt anyone would want to take that initiative in that situation.

[/ QUOTE ]

you probably missed someone saying how a group of 10 students tried to block the door so that the gunman couldnt enter. The gunman just shot through the door instead. If they have time to coordinate that, they have to time to bum rush him. guns in close quarter combat are not very effective. The problem is, reflexively, most people arent willing to give up to their lives to save complete strangers. but this is probably another topic not suitable for this thread, so i digress

a senior interviewed on foxnews said that on the way to campus he called the main VT hotline to see what was up and they told him to continue on as normal with caustion, this was during the second shooting. pretty awful job by the university in response to a crisis.

I hope that the rest of the wounded are ok.

It might be "SOP" but [censored] that, cops with vests and guns should take charge over unnarmed, defenseless students who are locked in classrooms about to be literally executed.

[/ QUOTE ]
Totally agree. The whole [censored] point of police is to protect the public, not themselves. They should run in there and sacrifice themselves to protect the hundreds of unarmed innocent civilians, THATS THEIR [censored] JOB.

[/ QUOTE ]

They can't do their job if they got shot too. Plus were the guys being discussed swat or regular cops? Regular cops really aren't trained for that sort of thing and an open gunfight with bystanders could actually be much more deadly than the shooter alone.

RE: Guy being carried in picture: i want to say he isnt dead but i cant imagine trained professionals carrying him in that manner otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]

There was a retired detective on FoxNews who said carrying people this way is standard. He said they do this in order to quickly evacuate wounded in case there is a second shooter, rather than leave the victim and themselves at risk waiting for an ambulance.

[/ QUOTE ]

For a non-fatal wound, that is a standard way to move an injured quickly out of a hot zone. Had the wound been to the neck, chest, (insert more serious wound here) then he would have been left where he was until medics arrived.

Also the way his head is semi lifted (presumably looking at his wounds and probably in a complete state of shock) proves he is atleast somewhat alive in the picture.

If I am proven incorrect and that is truly a picture of someone's son, brother, boyfriend, etc dead on the front page of a newstory, then FoxNews is [censored] up.

I promise you that they will get their money back. The outrage would be so tremendous if they didn't.

[/ QUOTE ]

why would this even come up now? It happened 2 hours ago? Are you sure that quote is real? I doubt VT is going to go into hock for tuition from 32 students.
