I agree with OP regarding annoyance with decals, and also find license plate frames from dealers annoying.

That said, I got a new Jeep a few years ago and took a few minutes to remove both items. A friend who knows these sorts of things suggested something - I seriously think it was nail polish remover and a rag - and it came off pretty quickly. Years later there are no signs of paint damage to that area.

Thread is awesome though, I hope OP keeps us updated.

I still have the dealer front plate in my car almost two and a half years after buying it, in gross violation of state law.

That's a good idea. My dealer also never bothered to give me my memo title so I had to drive around illegally for a while waiting for them to figure out what the [censored] they had done with it. I imagine that situation would've caused David C to have a heart attack.
