NL25 AKs OOP faced with a river decision, semideepish
This hand i played less than 10 min ago, usually i'd put in a reasonable raise preflop, but decided to call this time fromp the sb (i'll call with suited AK more often then offsuit), villain is a pretty loose 34/12/1.1 player. On the river i wasnt sure what to do, i thought he either had KJ/KT or a busted draw. I can either shove for 16 more or check and call if he bets (his river AF is really high, so i'm certain he'd bet with a busted draw), if he does have a weaker king im losing value though. thoughts?

Bad spot. The only hand I can see him having here that you beat is KJ/K10 like you said. On the other hand, the only hand that really beats you here is A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I don't like it at all, but im gonna say check/fold the river. I don't think the river shove has enough value here.

How can I possibly check/fold the river if I know hes gonna bluff 100% of the time with a missed draw, that was the whole purpose of my check, to induce the bluff, so if he did have AJ or KT then tough cookies and he gets my money, not much else i can do.
[ QUOTE ] The only hand I can see him having here that you beat is KJ/K10 like you said. [/ QUOTE ] you mean the only hand he will call my river value bet with is a king? pretty much that's the case. There is clearly value in shoving, the question is which line is better against his range check/call or just shove the rest. |

I still would not shove the river. He isn't going to bluff-call you. So to answer your question, the check/call is a better play if you are 100% confident he will bluff this river. |

HANABI - rr pf is the best option here
Makes the rest of the hand a lot easier to play. when you didn't do that - bet the flop |
