So I finally saw this. It's a terrific film. Funny and touching, and just perfect in so many ways.

Also, either I'm a sex fiend, or this is the most loaded-with-sexual-imagery movie there is. The bit where he's talking to the lady whilst she force-feeds a goose and firmly massages its neck up and down...lol.

I'm so pleased I got to see this, and thanks for the terrific review and recommendation.

IT also recalled to me the recent-ish series of melancholy American cinema (Napoleon Dynamite, The Good Girl, Garden State, etc). I wondered if any of those film makers were influenced by this. Do you know if it's a standard on film courses?

These all pale in comparison, btw.

it might be. someone who's taken more film courses than i have might be able to answer better. i'm gonna say based on the fact that for whatever reason the title "Closely Watched Trains" was stored somewhere in the back of my head before i saw the film probably indicates a decent awareness of it.

of course, it could just be that it influenced the films that influenced what we're getting now.

I've heard the flick's title many times, so I'm sure it's somewhat known in film-buff circles.

define "soon"

probably not for a bit...i'm kind of focusing on gravida and the uber-indies at the moment.
