Why don't you tell us what you are good at and what you enjoy?

[/ QUOTE ]

I like reading and understanding abstract stuff. For some time I considered staying in academia. I am also a pretty decent writer. I just don't get my kicks from writing manuals and ads. I am good with computers. I am a good guitar player. Not Eric Johnson-good, but I could probably sit in with the Late Night band without making an ass out of myself.

You can also take the question out of office space and ask yourself, if you had enough money never to have to work again, what would you do with your time?

[/ QUOTE ]

I would relax, I would sit on my ass all day, I would do nothing.

Judging by the topic header (which hurts my brain), the composition of your post and your job history, it seems to me like you hate writing. I'm not even sure that writing about something you're passionate about would help.

I think you need something to look forward to unless you want to be back in this thread six months from now. Figure out what you like doing, then figure out a way to make it profitable.

I hate writing ads and manuals. As for the composition of my post ... well, it's a post on an internet forum, thrown together in five. English is not my first language, btw.

Yeah, figuring out what I like and a way to make it profitable is good advice. Not the easiest thing to put into practice though.

re: English not being your first language, I withdraw my comment about post composition.

Generally, with finding something you like and making it profitable, you need to be willing to take a step back financially to establish yourself. Since you have a wife and kid, that may be difficult.

I did have one thought: Your comprehension of english seems strong enough that you could do some translation work in the fields you like. Maybe approach 2+2 about whether they have any translation plans and whether they need someone to carry them out. Keeps you in material you obviously enjoy, should help your poker game in the progress...seems like a good fit. What's your first language?

PS: Love your avatar.
