Try commercial diving. It sounds interesting and gross and profitable and dangerous.

Edit: Also, 1) Move to Paris.
2) Become a sewer boat captain.
3) Rule the underground poop rivers with an iron fist.
4) Profit!

5+ years at university, degrees in history and comparative literature. Professional background includes being a copywriter at an advertising agency (hated it), technical writing (hated it more) and more copywriting, this time self-employed (being my own boss didn't help much). Oh, and some teaching too.

[/ QUOTE ]

degree - writing related / literature
job1 - writing
job2 - tech writer
job3 - more writing
job4 - more writing
job5 - teaching (i assume english, lit, or history?)

See a trend here? You don't merely need a new job, you need a complete field switch.

Why don't you tell us what you are good at and what you enjoy?

You can also take the question out of office space and ask yourself, if you had enough money never to have to work again, what would you do with your time?

Judging by the topic header (which hurts my brain), the composition of your post and your job history, it seems to me like you hate writing. I'm not even sure that writing about something you're passionate about would help.

I think you need something to look forward to unless you want to be back in this thread six months from now. Figure out what you like doing, then figure out a way to make it profitable.
