all these people bragging about never having to deposit are basically saying "hey i started the same way as you but got the good side of variance, meaning im good!"
anyone who started with 10$ is lucky to have not gone bust

I've probably deposited 25 times in the 3 years I've been playing.
About 15 for deposit bonuses (back when such things existed). About 5 for moving to new sites or replacing a roll I'd cashed out entirely. I think when I first started playing I deposited like 4 times for a total of like $500 or $600 before I started making money, all in the same couple of days. I treated online poker like a slot machine (which is how most fish do I believe). I put in $100, then played a 100nl table, lol. I lost a few buy-ins, then made it all back and $1000 more in one night. I'd been playing play money tables for a couple weeks prior. A while later I realized the game was pretty swingy and moved down to 25nl and started grinding away against the worst players in poker history (25nl on Party in 2004, 50bb max buy-ins). Good times. I think I've only had to deposit once because I actually let my roll get too low. It was back on Party in 2005 or early 2006 when I was still terrible. I cashed out several thousand, then went on a big downswing and I had to redeposit because I didn't have enough money to multi-table the 100nl games.
