anyone ever see \"The Prisoner?\"
I'm talking about the '60's TV show starring Patrick McGoohan. Anyone ever see it? They did a whole episode of the Simpsons spoofing it, and it has become kind of a cult classic. Anyway, I have a question for anyone who has seen it:
I've watched 5 episodes on DVD. I know the series only ran for one season, but I'm unsure whether or not that was intentional. So, I want to know if it reaches any kind of conclusion at the end, or is it just a big friggin' cliffhanger? I don't want to watch the rest of the episodes if it never tells me what that god damn island is. |

Re: anyone ever see \"The Prisoner?\"
Saw it years ago, and as far as I remember there is a conclusion to the whole thing. I don't remember if it gets into specifics about the island or not though.

Yeah supposedly teh conclusion is pretty bad, and the star stepped in to direct it and had a hand in that. Some fans say he did a good job, but lots seem to say it's a let-down big time. Check the reviews of the series on Amazon.
Great series by the way. Loved the episodes I saw, long days ago. |

The show was always about the psychology of being incarcerated in the way he was (and the why, which is abundantly clear), not the specifics of who was holding him. Part of the reason the show was so revolutionary in its day was that the audience was never told the full backstory. We take it for granted nowadays (X-Files, Lost, etc). |

Re: anyone ever see \"The Prisoner?\"
Woah, I had a meeting with AMC today at work. They said they were remaking a show called "The Prisoner" in a 6 part series. I had no idea what they were talking about. Now this thread in the same day. Freaky weird. Anyway, here's a link to a story about it...

Re: anyone ever see \"The Prisoner?\"
There is a conclusion, but you're not going to get all the answers you want. There are quite a few theories on what the final episode means, since the final episode is very obscure. Google it when you're done and you can make up your own mind. And yes it was only supposed to last one season.

It made my head spin with it's riduculousness. I should rent that episode to see if it's as horrible as that article makes it sound. |
