Am I crazy here? Stars stud tourneys
So my wife says to me tonight, why is the # of players in the tourney always even?
She plays in the $10 10:45 EST stud tourney. She tells me it is always 32, or 30, or 44, or 72 on the weekends, but always even. I tell her she's nuts, the numbers of players are random if the seats aren't limited. So I go to the tourney lobby and show her all the odd tourney buy ins. Then to really show her, I filter stud tourneys only for last night, 4/12, (stud and stud8). Here are the results of the # of players: 8, 32, 20, 104, 24, 40, 24, 96, 288, 16, 24, 32, 40. OK, so 8,000-1 shots come in, but this was really weird! I am a firm believer in randomness, and I laugh at 'what are the odds' after an event has already taken place, but this was different. This was AFTER my wife claims that the stud tourneys are always even. Please don't let my wife be right. It's a terrible coincidence, correct? |

[ QUOTE ]
8, 32, 20, 104, 24, 40, 24, 96, 288, 16, 24, 32, 40 [/ QUOTE ] With the exception of 20, all of these numbers are divisible by 8. They'll usually leave a slot or three open for late-comers, but once those slots fill, they close registration. It just happens that on this date, almost all of the tournaments started with all full tables. |

By the way, I don't know how long you've been married, but your wife is always right.

It was just too much of a coincidence that it was random. So they are even; they must try for full, then even numbers if nothing else. Now I have to figure out a way to get out of this. Never should have called her nuts. |
