River decision with non-nut straight
1/2 6max, effective stacks 160. 5 handed at the moment.
I raise A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] to 8 in CO, sorta loose (maybe 30/10 or so, hadn't done a ton) sb calls, others fold. FLOP: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Pot: 17 SB checks, I check TURN: T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Pot: 17 SB bets 11, I raise to 40, SB calls RIVER: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Pot: 97 (SB has 115 left) SB checks. How much do you bet here and why? |

Re: River decision with non-nut straight
you basically have the nut straight here. It makes no sense for villain to donk bet turn with his AK or K9, just call the raise on the turn, and then check the river oop. A very unpredictably poor LAG might do this once in a blue moon. Besides, AK is generally reraising preflop. Like what was said, value bet like 60-80 and obv call push.

Re: River decision with non-nut straight
Bet $70. BTW, opening A9o in the CO is about avg. The reason you bet $70 is there is a possiblity that you could be bluffing, which is where you can often get value. He prob has QT or JT or somethin here and testing the waters on the turn.

Re: River decision with non-nut straight
Ok, looks like I could have bet a bit bigger; I only bet 60 thinking he can't call too much without a 9. I guess 10 bucks doesn't matter much to him if he's calling with 2 pair.

Re: River decision with non-nut straight
no he can have k9 and it makes sense for some to just call a turn raise being scared of ak. bet river cause he might call with some hands you beat and he isn't check raising most likely.
