Re: Make my Long Island Iced Tea taste better(at home)
[ QUOTE ]
You're still missing the splash of coke which gives it the dark color of tea. If you make the drink in your post, it isn't a long island iced tea. [/ QUOTE ] They call it a Blue Tea because its blue, and its much better this way. I do agree with you that it isn't technically a long island iced tea, the main alcohol ingredients are still there, its just missing that brownish color. |

Re: Make my Long Island Iced Tea taste better(at home)
Stop buying Sweet and Sour, and make your own, this will enhance your drink considerably. I make LITs a often, and here is what I typically use, shot = 1.5 oz
1 shot gin(I like sapphire or tangueray) 1.5 shots bacardi 1.5 shots vodka(mostly smirnoff, sometimes others) 1.5 shots triple sec(I like 60 proof triple sec) 2 shots of homemade sweet and sour. splash coke and stir. Sweet and Sour is 5 parts lemon juice 3-3.5 parts sugar 2 parts water basically I do a 5-3-2 mixture then add a little sugar at a time until it tastes correct. Cheers! John |

John [/ QUOTE ] John's right--the sweet and sour makes it taste like [censored]. You wanna make these in a pint glass. Do between a 1 and 2 count pour of all the liquors. You want the liquor content, ice included, to be about slightly more than half full. Then mostly sour, then the splash of coke. Also, it is not supposed to taste at all like ice tea, duh. Also, also, liquor content be damned, no real man would be caught dead drinking an LIT. Real men drink beer, liquor, or highballs, and that's pushing it. |

WOW... Why are people still posting? I gave the answer the first reply. Stop pretending to be chemists and use the SIMPLE route, not "Buy 30 different bottles of alcohol and start up a meth lab." [/ QUOTE ] your answer was retarded. |

Re: Make my Long Island Iced Tea taste better(at home)
Why all this "it's not supposed to taste like iced tea" stuff? I used to drink these in different places over the years and they always tasted like iced tea. That was a long time ago, though, and it often came in huge glasses. Maybe tastes have changed or something. I haven't had one for ages.

Long Islands offer one of the best alcohol : dollar ratio ... I'm not quite sure how they're labeled as 'girly' when they're also one of the strongest mixed drinks out there. [/ QUOTE ] as a former bouncer/barback I can tell you that this is undeniable fact. YOURE THE ONES WHO ARE THE GIRLS |
