D! Fence!
It's my third hand and first orbit. It's a mustmove Wednesday night 20/40...
One weak-tight limp that I've played with before. I raise A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] on the button. Biker Jimmy who for some reason hates my guts 3-bets out of the big. It's his first hand and while he didn't just get to the table (he waited for two orbits) this is the first hand he posted/played. As 12 chips go into the pot he declares "I'm not kidding around here boys" Limper calls and I decide to cap to set a president for the table. They both call Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]10[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Check, check, I bet, Jimmy c-raises, limper folds, I 3-bet, he 4-bets, I call. Turn A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] He checks, I check River 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] He bets I call. Can't wait to hear. . . |

Re: D! Fence!
God I'm a nit today. The word is "precedent".
Anyway I guess this okay. In my experience any time someone makes an "I'm serious" statement preflop they're actually [censored] around a lot. Whether he was serious or not he certainly seemed to like his hand on the flop. Getting c/r on the turn sucks hardcore here. If we call and fold UI well we just folded TPGK in a huge pot against someone that hates us. If we call both times and lose then we just got outplayed and spent 2 more bets than we needed to. I think it's pretty close but I think I might like the check here even though I'm skeptical after his preflop speech. I sort of feel like checking the turn is an easy way out of us having to actually play poker, but I've been awake for like 4 days so lines that make our hand easy to play seem better than they normally do to me. *edit* I'm glad someone else set the precedent for being a nit in this thread. |

Re: D! Fence!
I have really mixed emotions about the turn. Part of me really likes it, since you don't give him a chance to C/R you with two-pair or a better A (not that it really matters, since you have so many outs if behind.) Given your perceived image, I might bet the turn simply so he can make a move against you, and if he has two-pair or better, so be it, since you have a billion outs to improve. Also, he could have puked if he had a hand like QQ, KK, KJ or something along those lines and think you improved with the A, but plan to call you down with.
If you bet the turn and he C/R, would you call the river UI? I would hate to not get to showdown here, and I think that folding here would make me cringe. Yeah, I think betting the turn would be best. |

Re: D! Fence!
How many dead precedents did you lose on this hand? Did he have AJ, A-10, A-4 or A-2?

Re: D! Fence!
I know that I am not very good but please explain why everyone likes such a passive turn and river position? Top pair with Q kicker, straight draw, nut flush draw . . .
If he checkraises the turn you've still got a bunch of outs, no matter what he has. I should add that ONCE THE TURN IS CHECKED the river call is okay. I just would have put in a bet on the turn. |
