lol. FYI, one of the hoary myths is that black people can't swim well, for some obscure biological reason. So yes, there would be plenty of people offended if Imus said that. I have a vague memory of some sportscaster getting wailed on because he said black people lack "the necessities" for being good swimmers.

[/ QUOTE ]

That was Dodgers' executive Al Campanis. He made the remark on Nightline.

There are all kinds of thinks Imus could say that would get him fired. If he suggested Israel is a terrorist state, he'd be fired.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope.

[ QUOTE ]
If he said Jesus knocked up Mary Magdalene, he'd be burned at the stake.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, he might lose his job for this if his audience was heavily Christian. Other people have said as bad on TV though. Hell, go watch Life of Brian.

[ QUOTE ]
If he called for class war against the rich, he'd be run out of the country on a rail.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not even remotely.

[ QUOTE ]
Why do you insist on the privilege of offending certain people?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because the fact that there's only one group we're not allowed to offend is amazingly racist?

Well Ladies and Gents, MSNBC has dropped the simulcast of Imus' show. I do agree with that decision.

[/ QUOTE ]That is simply sad. I hate his show but there is no way in hell he should have been fired. The current PC climate is insane and a bit scary.

[/ QUOTE ]

You are not kidding...Imus aside; These girls are "scarred for life"! WTF I've been called worse personally, these girls were insulted as a group. TOUGHEN UP, JESUS CHRIST

To roughly phrase Boondocks:

[Black man bumps into white man]
Black Man: Watch where you're going, punk bitch!
White man: What did you say?
Black man: You heard what I said. What are you gonna do about it, bitch?
[White man gets angry, then laughs]
White man: Wait a minute... I'm white!

White people don't care about being stereotyped because the stereotypes don't actually matter. The only consequence is that hundreds of white wide receivers get labeled as "deceptively fast," "good route runners," and "sure handed."

Why else would a predominately white site like 2+2 have so many Affirmative Action threads?

[/ QUOTE ]

OFF TOPIC:
It's not that 2+2ers hate black people. We hate being stolen from (taxes) without getting any benefit in return. AA has not exactly worked, so people who pay for it feel as if their money is going down a drain.

ON TOPIC:
I hate talk radio from both sides but Imus made a comment that I wouldn't think twice about if I was listening to him. Sharpton is beside the point, I doubt anyone other than the media really cares what he says. This whole thing is ridiculous. Let the ratings decide if he should be fired.

you guys seem to be reading between nonexistent lines and assuming that "black women can't do math" is alluding to the fact that, in the past, black people were more commonly seen as inferior...

[/ QUOTE ]

Gee, it couldn't be alluding to the easily demonstrable truth that math test scores for blacks are quite a bit lower than whites (or Asians for that matter), could it?

ESPN just had a special on the best all-time dunkers in the NBA. All 20 were black players. If the list went to 100, would any white player make the list?

[/ QUOTE ]

Tom Chambers will make the list:

By saying what he did, Imus is indicating that the feelings of black people do not count.

[/ QUOTE ]
