Is Blackjack in CA beatable? (using counting)
Is Blackjack in California beatable (by counting)? I think unlike Vegas, there are many different forms of Blackjack here. It seems every casino has their own form, and usually several forms. Some rules that I find somewhat common are that the player is a banker (like Pai Gow). I know the fact that the player can be a banker is what makes Pai Gow beatable. Also there seem to be some crushing fees in CA Blackjack. Usually the fee is 1% per hand, with minimum charge of $1 or something similar. Basically the only way to mitigate the large fee per hand is betting near max every time, which of course takes away a lot of the advantage from counting. From different forms of Blackjack in CA, "Hustler Blackjack" seems most similar to normal Blackjack. Are any forms of CA Blackjack beatable? If so, which and how? Any links or reference is appreciated.

Re: Is Blackjack in CA beatable? (using counting)
only the indian casinos in CA have "real" blackjack. any game which is not simply called BLACKJACK (ie. California Blackjack, No Bust Blackjack) that you would find in a poker-based card club should not be bothered with. the minute you hear anything about a "fee", run fast in the other direction.
at the native cali properties you'll find 6-deck games with "eh" rules, csm's, and maybe some playable green chip 2-deck pitch tables. a quick glance of CBJN, you might be able to do something at places like Fantasy Springs, Soboba, and Barona. a few San Diego joints are marginal plays and maybe could be good for comps, but not a whole lot of cash profit. |
