Re: The Shield 6.2 discussion thread

I like the Aceveda character, and after being so strong in the first 3 seasons, it seems like they're really looking for excuses to keep him around the barn. I'm not sure it all fits, but I'm glad to have him showing up. [/ QUOTE ] agree on all counts. |

I thought this episode was Chiklis' worst acting. He's still awesome but something about this particular show seemed forced. Maybe it was just the mood I was in. [/ QUOTE ] There's a fine violence between murderous rage and looking like a guy trying way the [censored] too hard to stick his jaw out. I think he was pushing it a lot this ep. |

Great show, too bad there is going to be only one more season after this, per Shawn Ryan, creator. [/ QUOTE ] I was under the impression that this was the last season. Linky? D EDIT: Just read it on wiki, so it must be true! But it seems credible... If this is true, I hate the decision to kill Lem even more. I still don't think that it fits within the overall scheme of the show and is out of character, even for Shane. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think it fits very well - the show began with Vic & Shane killing a fellow police officer to save their own asses. Throughout the years after there's always been the play of the Strike Team vs Legal and Moral boundries, while at the same time a) Looking out for themselves, and b) Looking out for each other. Lem's death at Shane's hands was the ultimate conflict of the two. JMO. |

Re: The Shield 6.2 discussion thread
I don't think we've seen the end of Kavanaugh, either. Solid episode. I haven't seen any spoilers, but I think it's pretty clear that the escalation in gang activity is going to delay Vic's forced retirement, as he's really been the only one that's been effective in controlling gangs in Farmington.
The moral ambiguity of this show, much like The Sopranos, is what makes it so much more interesting. You know the characters are bad or very bad people, but you still find yourself rooting for them, even though you know you shouldn't be. That's good TV. |

Re: The Shield 6.2 discussion thread
I truly can't get enough of this show. Been a big fan for the past 2 years or so. I've always hated on Shane, and I'm glad to see his character going through so much emotion. Walton Goggins is SUPERB.
Another poster mentioned that he thought Chiklis' acting was forced in that episode. I disagree. I think it was awesome. Can you imagine the weight on Vic's shoulders. Vic's character has definitely turned darker (is that possible?) and Im loving it. Aceveda used to be a big power player, but, again I agree there kind of looking for excuses to keep him around. |

Before the show ends, I hope Vic gets to use the cell phone video footage of Acevadas 'rape' against him !!

Maybe it's because I only got into the show last season, but I've never found Shane the least sympathetic. I want him to die real bad. [/ QUOTE ] I too only started last season, and I can't stand Vic. Do any long-time fans feel the same, or do you all pull for him? I really want to see him go down, though I hated crazy-eye kavanaugh more, so I'm glad he got stopped. |
