Default wow...you guys were right about the showboat

So last summer I was in AC 2-3 days a week just keeping myself in some money in between semesters at college. The first time I went, I went to the Taj and immediately learned that was not somewhere I wanted to be...then I went to the Tropicana but wasn't all that impressed. I heard from people that just went to AC to gamble that the Borgata was nice...so I went there and never went anywhere else the rest of the summer. And everytime I went back during this school year I went there also. Well I had been reading a lot of the B&M threads and decided to try out the Showboat. It was a very profitable endeavor. The poker room is not all that big...maybe 20 tables..I'm bad at estimating that. But the environment there is great...it creates a gamblers environment. The lights are low, the tables are crowded, and its very informal. The players are terrible and drunk by noon. However...if the players weren't terrible I'd never go. It is hard to get help from floormen, it is not well run. And the cocktail waitresses are the oldest and least attractive I've ever seen. But scooping lots of big pots tends to make everything else not so bad. Just thought I would let anyone else know who may not have heard already.

Matt

Good description of the HoB: Terrible players and a poorly run room. The dealers are friendly (and generally competent) and the floor is terrible.

What cash games do they spread at Showboat? Do they spread 5/10 limit and higher? Everybody has 1/2 NL. Whats the min and max buy in there at showboat? How's the 2/5 NL cashgame?

Good description. When I was there last Sunday, they has several tables (maybe 4-5) of 1-2NL (40min/300max) and one table of 2-5NL that looked like all regulars.

Some dude asked the floor to start a 5-10NL list at about 3:30. Floor looked at him and said "sure but it ain't happening". My guess is maybe they get 5-10 on Friday and Saturday but I'll let others confirm.

The Showboat does not spread any limit game higher than $3-$6 limit.

How's the 2/5 NL cashgame?

What you would expect to find at a casino. Most players play bad.

Floor is not that bad there at all, and the room is a great room full of tons of fishsticks. Have never seen a good looking waitress, but bottles are free and its quick. Gamblers environment and its hard not to get drunk there. 2-5 always goes on the weekend and 5-10 nl on friday and saturdays has been the norm recently.

At Showboat:

1/2NL is 60min/300max
2/5NL is 500max (not sure of min)
5/10NL is 1000max (not sure of min)

Called the show boat and the minimum limit for 2/5 is $100. I'll probably go this Friday night and check it out first. I may just stick to cash games in AC. Was going to play the Showboat Tourny, but if the players are bad and we are double stacked(10,000 chips) I'll be there all day and night. Have a bachelor party to attend too.

games are real weak like normal, i wish they spread higher limit, i like limit and no limit but really crush the limit games consistently since so many people dont value bet when they need to and call down way to light. This adds up for tons of BB/100.

I only played one 17 hours session at 1/2 NL there. There are definitely a number of bad players there, and better yet bad hyper-aggressive players. However, there are also a lot more of TAGs and rocks than you normally expect. As luck would have it, not only did I manage to get cold-decked several times (don't you love flopping king-high flush against an ace-high flush?), but I also managed to completely duck all the chips that a maniac with $1000 on a table decided to throw away. Given that I only lost $100 in such a session, I assume that the room is at least as bad as any other.
