Most Profitable style for live MSNL
Whih do you feel is the most profitable style for live 2-5, 5-5 and some 5-10 live No Limit games....
This is considering on average you will have your normal cast of Nits, LAGs, TAGS, and lots of live fish...and everything in between...This includes some games that are full of maniacs like the kind found around city clubs and home games...and some weak tight casino games... I understand that each game is specific and you want to play the style opposite to the other players but on a whole which style is the standard for the highest +EV live MSNL? |

19/16/4 style with lots of trash talk and getting ppl on tilt wins the $$

Re: Most Profitable style for live MSNL
People play ridiculously bad at 2-5 live. If you play standard tag you should be able to clean up. That being said, some people are so easy to read live that you can play a lot of hands against them profitably.
anyways like all the fun of playing live comes from reading your opponents and adjusting appropriately |

Re: Most Profitable style for live MSNL
If you were a robot, LAG preflop, TAG postflop except against the few random TAGs that you can beat up postflop, too. But since you're not, you'll most likely end up tilting and bluffing too much that way, so the most +EV way is to play a TAG game and alleviate boredom by drinking and hitting on the waitresses.

Re: Most Profitable style for live MSNL
Thanks for the responses...TAG has been my bread and butter thus far in 07....I tried playing more LAG like (got a little bored and felt like i was morphing into a nit) and well live its difficult to get people off of TPTK at MSNL its strange...
I am trying to keep detailed stats this year...(the best you can do live anyways) what do you think would be a mark of excellence at the MSNL BB/hr after tip/time/rake....5-8? I'm not a full time player and still have some things to learn but I would like to get in 10-15K hands for the year live... My goal is 5BB/ hr after tip/time/rake |

Re: Most Profitable style for live MSNL
I limp alot more in live games.. there's not nearly as much aggression as online. I find it's mostly about making large pots preflop with your very good hands, and taking people to valuetown if they see hte flop, or limping in/calling raises in multiway pots w/ suited connectors/pairs and trying to hit big and taking people to valuetown.
Bluffing does have it's place in live MSNL games, but you have to be careful. It's mostly about picking up the pots no one wants or pots where the former aggressor is clearly not interested anymore. Also, representing the "scare" card with a big bet, like a flush that came in after you missed your straight, works very well. Don't ever 3-bet without a good hand, either. People don't like to fold before seeing the flop. |

[/ QUOTE ] Obviously you shouldn't play the same in all these games. Live MSNL games tend to be on the weak-tight-passive side, witht the odd lagtard or loose passive donators. So I usually would play a pretty laggy style against the former type of lineup, probably like 30/15. |

Re: Most Profitable style for live MSNL
I limp all-day with the occasional limp/re-raise off the CO/Button raise.
