Re: I feel like I\'m wasting AA by raising pf
thanks for the responses.
hopefully, people were seeing what i was getting at: a big % of our AA hands don't see a flop. That is bad. It is the best hand and has huge equity in all pots (multiway and HU - play around with Pokerstove with various flops multiway against opponents with "any pair, any broadway, any suited" and you'll see that AA is still usually 50%+). I understand the reasons for raising 4xBB pf. That's a no-brainer, but it was a bit disconcerting seeing that almost half of my AA hands did not see a flop. Assuming I don't have a postflop IQ of less than 60, I was thinking that by getting to the flop much more with AA, I might be able to generate more $$. I guess I need to sit down and work out the math. This is AA we are talking about. Not seeing a flop with the best hand in poker is like having Shanna Hiatt as a gf but not porking her. |

Re: I feel like I\'m wasting AA by raising pf
do you only see 50% of the flops with your other hands as well? Part of raising AA is to diguise it as part of your raising range. It's harder for them to put you on a hand that always flops an overpair when you have a looser range.

Raise more with other hands. Either you're going to pick up hella lot of blinds with garbage, or you're going to start getting action on AA. Either way you profit.

Re: I feel like I\'m wasting AA by raising pf
typical uNL table:
2 fish 2 nits 1 tag me i get AA once every 200 hands. average opponent will not be at the table with me for more than 200 hands my vpip has increased to 22 and pfr to 18. i get AA and raise with my new looser image nits fold, because they only play certain cards against raises no matter what your image is fish call or fold regardless of my image because they are fish and play hands they like TAG calls if the stars align (position, has a pair/SC/good broadways, and has been at the table long enough to form an image of me). so he calls a small % of the time i've tried this out. for roughly 50 or 60k hands i was running in the 30s and i didn't see any noticeable change in my opponents' response to my play but that aside if i go from 16 to 22 vpip, it's not a huge jump. maybe i'll get AA called, what, 2% more? nothing significant. i can see i'm in the minority on this image thing, and that's fine. so if i'm becoming annoying just tell me to shut up |

Re: I feel like I\'m wasting AA by raising pf
Over about 20k hands, I've seen no flop with AA 48/122 times while running 20/16/5.4

119,000 hands in PT Dealt aces: 560 times There was no flop: 236 times AA is too valuable of a hand to pick up the blinds or 4bb from the original PFR [/ QUOTE ] What's your PTBB/100 with AA? The numbers you posted are pretty meaningless without any backup data. |

ok, everyone do this: go to PT, filter for "Any Raise" Count how many AA's there are Then filter for "There was no flop" Count how many AA's there are. Curious what % all you wild and crazy lags are getting. [/ QUOTE ] Small sample, but over 13k hands (both NL 10 and 25) I've been running about 32/19/2.68. I've had AA dealt 70 times and raised each time. No flop: 18 times. This is on UB. |
