Tracking bets (excel question)
I looked at the spreadsheet in the FAQ, but it isn't really what I want. So I made a simple spreadsheet in excel with a screenshot shown below. The graph looks good, but I want to be able to attach dates to the points, or at least be able to tell when a day began or ended. I tried adding an additional series, but it didnt work out as it lumps all the running totals on the same x axis value(date). Anyone have any suggestions on how they do their tracking? If someone has a few minutes and is suave with excel, id be happy to email the workbook, or post it online somewhere.
Thoughts on how you track? Also, I dont use standard sportsbooks, so that free online tracker doesnt really help me out, as it never has the right value amounts. -rdh |

Re: Tracking bets (excel question)
you likely just need to make the date column your "category (x) axis labels" in the source data for your graph. if you can't figure it out, post it online and provide a link (or send me a pm if you want to keep it private) and i can probably fix it for you.

Re: Tracking bets (excel question)
You're going to need your date column to be the truly independent variable (what the graph 'graphs' by).
Although if what you're trying to do is get a graph of how you've been doing, bet by bet (shameless plug here: http://www.sagestats.com/) But the first paragraph should solve your problem. |

I think what I need to do on the spreadsheet is have a date and time to get them truly independent. |

Re: Tracking bets (excel question)
Ah yeah. Now that I look at your bets, we might not yet have enough support for you.
We don't yet have halftime or quarter lines yet. As for getting the right moneylines, you can enter bets manually using the ss book. If the odds are out there somewhere, then the bet will go through. (This is so that someone doesn't put the have +20 on a baseball game or something). |

Re: Tracking bets (excel question)
Also yes: adding times would help. Problem is that you're going to have to not have them as two separate variables (I think).
Either that, or you can have a whole other column (let's name it 'bet number') that will depend on what data and what time a game was. Its value can be an if statement. Then, make that column (bet number) the independent variable. |

[ QUOTE ] ps, my sports betting ledger is here. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks. Do you think there is value to also tracking the closing line? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I think that is a good method to calculate a minimum bound for a bet's a priori edge. |
