There are a couple of brief threads on EcoCard. Both make it sound WAY expensive. And of course, it only works at a few sites. Sounds yucky.

Then again there's the bonus to whore. But I've had enough of ewallet related red tape and I shall take a pass.

I'm beginning to feel the same way as you about e-wallets. I found out my merchant will let me request a check. Any Canadians here have any problems cashing or depositing foreign checks? I keep hearing that Canadian banks will refuse foreign checks. If that's true then my only option would be the most expensive option. The dreaded "BANK WIRE".

I have recieved many cheques from Ecash and Party. Ecash has no charges for cheques over $1000 and are courierd to you at no charge. This is the only way I cash out now.

Do any credit cards still work for deposits?

I haven't tried a CC deposit in ages because I was moving money between sites with Neteller.

My CC is a BMO MasterCard.

Default OTish: Why are *WE* the ones doing all the work?

Why is Party the only room with EFT in (free) and out (cheap)? I know Stars had this option but it's currently on hold for some reason. As far as I know that's it. Is it so hard to get the ACH (or whatever it is one needs)?

Sorry for the upcoming rant but I'm mystified by the poker sites lack of reaction to the current situation. Aside from credit cards (which are mostly blocked anyway) EFT seems the only option a novice player who saw an ad on TV would be willing to undergo. Setting up these third party e-wallets has proven difficult for internet semi-pros and pros -- the average novice player will quit far quicker. The EFT option from Party was easy, just one verification step and it's easy as could be. Is it impossible for other sites to get this? Anyone have any idea what kind of fee Party is eating by doing the deposit for free?

Is it just me or are the poker sites seemingly far too quiet on this issue? I'm sure they are concerned and are working on alternatives but I'll be damned if they act like nothing is wrong. I get all the same promotions in my mail with no mention of how they expect me to deposit the money -- they seem blissfully unaware that most Canadian cards block gaming sites. Isn't this their business? Shouldn't they be sending us mails telling us they understand our problems and are working on solutions. Maybe offering rakeback deals to compensate for fees we might pay. Instead I get all the same phone calls asking me why I haven't deposited -- like it's a freakin' mystery that Neteller pulled out of Canada and they can't figure out what my problem might be. For many sites the only option is mailing a check -- others (WillHill) I'm literally locked out of changing my deposit method (from Neteller) on my account. Why is this suddenly MY job? It's not MY job to figure out a way to give them my money; it's THEIR job to figure out an easy and cheap way to allow me to play in their room. Look at how long this thread is! All the time and effort WE are doing to give people (via rake) our money. Nobody seems to have any GD idea what to do and what do I get in my mail on a daily basis? "200% bonus for depositing." That's great but HOW?

In Vegas there are moving walkways on the way in, free drinks, free parking, and so forth. Right now most online poker sites are charging an entrance fee (by forcing us to e-wallets with ridiculous fees) and we're still getting raked. Some of them are literally closed -- the equivalent of a Vegas casino having the lights on and I can hear people gambling inside but the doors are locked and when I knock nobody answers. Most sites, when you go to their deposit page, there is no mention of working on a new deposit method. It's business as usual.

As I said, I'm sure they are working on things. I also understand the US law change has hurt them. However, to my mind, it seems all the more important, given the US situation, to make it easy for people in other countries to continue to play. Instead I'm told to just deposit with garbage like epassporte. Nothing about this experience, from any room, makes me feel like a valued customer. It seems like the poker sites attitude is "you are a degenerate and you'll pay these silly fees because you can't not gamble." Well maybe for a lot of people they are right -- for me I'm a degenerate but I'm a cheap degenerate. So it seems I can only play on Party. Problem is I detest Party ... yet they have my devoted business by default. ::sigh::

Anyway, rants aside, anyone have any info on how costly and difficult it would be for other sites to offer free EFT's for deposit and withdraw?

I tried to deposit a GBP check drawn on an Irish bank from Club on the Park Casino, they cut off Neteller immediately and emailed me saying my cashout would be processed by check.

TD Canada Trust:
- Would not let me deposit to my US Checking Account
- Required that the check be sent to collections which would take about 30 days, because it wasn't from a bank they dealt with directly .
- Would only allow it to be deposited in my Canadian Checking account.

Amen brother, rant on! haha the quote above was my favourite part of your rant because I can relate.

Seriously I appreciate everyone doing all this work to figure out the depositing and withdrawal options. But I just want a dead simple option like Neteller or EFTs that doesn't have any fees or require me jumping through any hoops.

I am a semi pro and I'm grateful of how I've done playing this silly game but like you said, it is the poker sites job to make it easy for me to transfer money so that I can pay them absurd rakes for hosting the games.

Finally got around to click2pay. I previously had the phone verification done already. Deposit was instant with credit card to interpoker for their $50 click2pay reload.

Will let you guys know whether CIBC Visa treats this as a cash advance or a "purchase".

With the exception of riverstars, MB and click2pay will take care of all my poker e-wallet needs I think. Will likely get the click2pay debit card.

How much do Canadian ATMs (banks) charge for withdrawing from their machines with the C2P debit card, anyone know?

[ QUOTE ]

Got the money in moneybookers this morning. Requested withdrawal at ipoker Tuesday night, got it Thursday morning. Going to repeat this for click2pay soon for interpoker etc.

FWIW here is my latest update

- set up MB account in US$
- verified credit card
- verified address
- deposited $100 to MB account
- deposited $25 to party - worked instantly
- deposited $25 to ipoker - worked instantly
- did some cover play on ipoker
- emailed ipoker that I will be withdrawing to MB instead of neteller from now on
- requested a $400 with from ipoker to MB
- Waiting for money to hit MB account

Will let you guys know once that works and we should be in business!

That will be entirely dependent on the ATM. I think most banks are around $1.50. White-labels are similar, but you can find cheaper ones sometimes....I believe Costco's are cheaper, for example. You'll also find that different ATMs have different maximum withdrawal amounts. Interac mandates at least $400, so most should be at least that much (although you might find some lower)...I suspect that bank ones will be higher.

Damn 30 days. This is no good. I guess every Canadian bank will probably send a foreign check to collections. No wonder WillHill won't pay Canadians by checks. Wish some merchants would cut a check from a Canadian bank instead of Euro banks.

Anyways, thanks for the information.
