Default Comment on Tough Hold\'em Games

Received my copy today. Very excited to digest it. One observation:

The starting hands chart on P. 12 bears striking similarity to Abdul Jalib's 1999 chart in "Hold'em Preflop Strategy According to Abdul" here:

Another comment.

Roughly 48 of the first 68 pages are PokerTracker chart results for various hands by position for three representative winning players. First time I have ever seen this stuff in a book. Will take some time to digest, although they draw conclusions from this raw data in recommending their preflop hand ranges.

abdul's starting ranges were based a lot on turbo texas holdem sims (I am assuming this but think I am correct). He was one of the original "testers" for that product. I think the guy is awesome and since our starting hands are based on sims and emperical data I consider it corroboration of our findings that they are similar.

Excellent post-flop breakdown by betting line. Never seen anything like it in the literature. Conceptualizing the flop and turn betting rounds as a sequence is genius, and the guidelines for how to choose which line based on the opponent and the strength of your hand/draw are spot on.

Well done.

Don't think so. See Mason's thread. I pre-ordered mine. Came in the mail today. Bookstores should have them in about a week or so.

Note these hand ranges are a far cry from HPFAP's groupings.

For today's tough and 6max internet games? Clearly. HPFAP was written before the boom. Before computer simulations. Before PokerTracker. Before PokerStove. It was a slightly different game back then.
