U2: X - Any of their hits ever Y - All I Want Is You [/ QUOTE ] While that song is good I really don't agree that it's clearly a "better" song than "ALL their hits ever"...U2 has a lot of ridiculously great songs that were "hits." [ QUOTE ] Fleetwood Mac: X - Any of their hits Y - Songbird [/ QUOTE ] I don't know man, I'm no Fleetwood Mac buff but seriously...Landslide > Songbird. [ QUOTE ] Tears for Fears X - Shout/Everybody Wants To Rule ... Y - Famous Last Words [/ QUOTE ] Arrgh, no way...at least when compared to Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Fortunately you didn't lump Head Over Heels in there too or else there'd really be hell to pay! I'm quite a fan of TFF and have listened to The Hurting and Songs from the Big Chair hundreds of times each...however, I must admit I've only listened to Seeds of Love a handful of times. Perhaps this sways my opinion. I think what your list really shows is that you personally prefer soft/slow/passionate/introspective songs. Do you cry a lot? j/k... Re: known for \"X \"song but \"Y\" is better
As an album, The Hurting totally pwns Songs From the Big Chair. Between Pale Shelter and Mad World alone, it's no comparison. Some of the best stuff on Big Chair was not the hits, anyway. Sowing the Seeds of Love, however, is epic. Fo'reals.

[/ QUOTE ] Whoops, yeah. The song is just amazing. Very melow, and sad. Supposedly it was written about the singers father who drowned in a river. |

Oasis X: Supersonic Y: Slide Away [/ QUOTE ] Close, X def has to be Wonderwall, and I think Supersonic can be Y. Slide Away is one of my favorites. There can be so many Ys for this great band. |

[ QUOTE ]
The Psychedelic Furs X: Pretty In Pink, Love My Way, Heartbreak Beat Y: Into You Like A Train, Sleep Comes Down, Ghost In You [/ QUOTE ] Wow!! I would have included almost the exact same for the Furs but didn't bother because most aren't that familiar with them anyway. Maybe throw in Forever Now or India or We Love You into the Y category instead (and I was always partial to She is Mine) but I have zero problems with your selections on this one....except maybe Ghost in You being almost close enough to an X song. But I've seen Comfortably Numb and All I Want is You listed as Y songs here as well so if that's the standard then certainly Ghost in You makes the cut. Also - The Verve X - Bittersweet Symphony Y - Blue, Slide Away |
