- Make the room as bright as possible.
- Music - Smokes - A dude in BBV said he stared into his car lights for a minute. Apparently it tricks your body into thinking you're awake or something. I'm pretty sure it won't work, but desperate times and all that. - If all you are gonna do from 12 - 4 is stare at your computer, or slack off in some other way, you might wanna consider a nap instead. Pretending to do something in the wee hours happens to most people. |

my typical all-nighter is staying up until 5 in a cool room with lots of lights on, maybe sitting in a rocking chair, with headphones listening to music. I know I crash hard at 6 or so, so i pop a no-doze at 5, and by 6 i'm getting the jitters and know that by the time it wears off the adrenaline is on and i'm through to morning.
Don't get tired in the first place. Don't rest your head. If you're exhausted, you can take a nap for 2 hours, but IMO this rarely helps. You're better off fighting through to 4-5, or taking a no-doze early and another one in early morning. |

I'm not good with all-nighters.. I've actually dropped entire courses cuz I planned to pull an all-nighter to finish something, then decided [censored] it, I need sleep.
Tips: Water/hydration, drink redbull.. music helps me stay awake.. for concentration, get away from the comp.. I can fool around on the comp for hours essentially doing nothing. Make sure to get some sleep if this is an exam cram, your brain will thank you |

pretty happy to say I've never pulled an all nighter for academic reasons. sleep starts becoming exponentially more important as the night goes on and I just end up quarter-assing whatever I needed to do.

The one in the Friend Center is, it might be the only one though; Firestone/Marquand definitely close early. Seminar rooms in the wws building are also great late if you can get in. In fact, classrooms anywhere are a pretty good choice, since they don't kick you out when the buildings close like the libraries.

Basically I am a little bitch and my brain shuts off somewhere between midnight and 4am. I could stay up later if I really want to, but accomplish little to nothing. Unfortunately due to my lazy disposition and messed up sleep schedule I will be pulling these in some form all week. So dorm, give me some love and help me with tips for pulling off productive all-nighters! [/ QUOTE ] Don't do it. Study all semester, that way the tests are easy and the homework is done. Way less stress and a better GPA are the result. This is what I do as a grad student, and what I would do if I could reverse time by several years and do it over. As an undergrad I just did everything at the last minute and still usually got to bed by 4 because I learn pretty quickly and I was pretty happy with a C much of the time. It was not productive, I did not feel like I learned much, and I think I wasted the better part of my tuition. |

as a master of procrastination .. I always tried to tell myself just to go to sleep early and wake up early enough to grind through it.
MUCH better than wasting time and/or doing it while half asleep. Plus you have the adrenaline pump to work really fast when the assignment is due in 4 hours. |
