I am 19 and I've been watching/loving MASH for about 8 years I think... I HATE Sidney Friedman for some reason, but I really love Col. Blake and Radar. Definitely the best administration... Hawkeye/Trapper/Frank are the best combo of swamp mates...

I enjoyed the show a lot. I think it peaked with the brief tenure as Frank Burns as c/o and then the arrival of Potter and early Charles. Writers Ken Levine & David Isaacs were the key creative consultants om tjis time. My favorite episode was "Dear Sigmund", and I agree with most posters that a Sidney Freedman episode was always a good one. Col. Flagg was a hoot too. Capt. Tuttle was a scream as well.

- In the first episodes of the series there are two other tenants in the swamp, "Spearchucker" Jones and Ugly John, both exit after only a handful of episodes

Characters from the movie.

My gf tivo's the reruns on Hallmark, so we'll watch five or six episodes back to back sometimes. I think it's a pretty cool show, and I prefer Potter to Blake, but enjoy most of the episodes anyways. Only real pet peeve is the laugh track that was added in some episodes.

The chemistry between the cast, usually with Hawkeye as the center of attention, was excellent. Occasionally, Hawkeye's never-ending witticisms get old, but it's something I just accepted as part of his character. Sometimes changing characters kills a tv show, but it worked very well on MASH. I dig Winchester's continual battle of wits with Hawkeye.

I remember being shocked and actually crying when Colonel Blake was killed off.

The story was that, for this specific episode, they didn't tell the cast how they were going to finish the show. They just started the scene, and Radar came into the OR and said his lines, and they let the actors do the rest.

I don't know if that's true. I remember crying too. This was one of the few very serious moments in any of the episodes that I really appreciated for its weight, its moment.

As I recall the killing off of Col. Blake was due to the producers being PO'd that McClean Stevenson wanted to leave the show. Their response was to kill his character.
