Re: Dog Track strategy LHE
IMO low pockets up front pretty much suck. The one exception is with a lot of callers and no raise to your SB. I like to check the flop in the dark. You're sure to see a bet and maybe a raise. If I hit trips and the board looks OK I 3 bet and at least half players call. Play as necessary from there.
As an aside, I've been playing O8 at these stakes too. I'm a new O8 player, but I'm even more shocked at the looseness, though the game seems more agressive post flop. I know Omaha is supposed to require even tighter play and I'm still seeing 5 or 6 to a flop. I wonder if it isn't more profitable (or at least less unprofitable)? |

Re: Dog Track strategy LHE
why don't you try the 1/2 games that most Florida casinos have--that way it's classic sshe poker. I have played 1/2 in Tampa, Hollywood, and Daytona beach a lot in the past few years and have enjoyed a good winrate the whole time.

Re: Dog Track strategy LHE
The 1/2 games, at least the ones I've played allow you to bet one *or* two on any street. So instead of 1/1/2/2 it plays like 1 or 2/1 or 2/1 or 2/1 or 2. This is at the Kennel Club in WPB. Other games they spread are Ante 2 (craziest LAG game ever), 7 Stud 1-2 (same up & down betting as that 1-2 LHE), Omaha 8, and 7 Stud $1 ante.
I really hope they raise the stakes in FL soon because I'm sure I'm picking up terrible habits. I know I can see 3X more hands online per hour, but I do like to play live as well and don't have a home game to sit. |
