Default AQ UTG late in monte carlo

43 people left in ept monte carlo. I have about 60-65k in chips, blinds are 3000-6000 with 600ante. The average stack is about 215K. The table is 8 handed, so about 14000 chips are in the pot each hand before the cards are dealt. This is the last hand of the level, before it becomes 4k--8k. I am in the money, but the next payout starts at 40th place. No one at the table is very crazy, no huge stacks that will play mediocre hands just to bust someone. Im dealt AQ offsuit in first position. What do you think is the best play here? Move allin? Raise smaller amount? Limp? Fold?

Open folding AQ is never correct. Sorry if this was your bustout hand or something, but a push here is 100% standard. A case could possibly be made for making a smaller raise, but I don't like that, especially not given the antes.

Congratulations on cashing in the grand final btw.

Yea, I ended up pushing allin. The guy to my left woke up with KK and that was the end of it for me. I just wasnt sure if raising maybe 15-16k and then possibly being able to get away from the hand when he shoves would have been better.

I dont think its acceptable to raise to 16k and fold to a shove.

This means they need to shove over you tighter than top 4% in order for you to be able to justify folding given the pot odds with your big hand. Just open raising this amount instead of open shoving helps entice someone at the table enough to say it broadens past the top 4% only that they would do this to you with.

Nope, cant see raising and getting away from the hand as an option. We dont like weak tight.

you need to play it here, small raising leaves your stack to small, i like pushing or limping/reraising all in and representing a monster, either play works, pushing is best

Very easy push. Pushing 22 or KJs is cEV+ here.

With AQ, I would not make another play than a push. With a big hand or marginal hand, I might raise to 12-16K.
