Killing Me Softly - The Fuggees (Gloria Gaynor)

Keep On Rockin In The Free World - Pearl Jam (Neil Young, not necessarily better but awesome)

And I heard a version of Forever Young on The OC (what?!) one day but I don't know who did it. It was really good.

The Clash's version of "I Fought the Law" is miles better than Bobby Fuller, and I actually really like the Bobby Fuller Four.

it's only on bootlegs but the Stones did a really good version of the old Dobie Gray classic Drift Away. Also i recall seeing Paul Westerberg around 93 doing a great version of Daydream Believer (Monkees). in fact, now that i think about it, Westerberg/The Replacements has always done great covers - Black Diamond (Kiss), Own Kind of Music (Mama Cass), Nowhere Man (Beatles) Another Girl, Another Planet (Only Ones). i'm sure there are more..

DMB's "Waste" is a song I really love. It's so much better than the original PHISH version.

I didn't realize they covered this. I'm a huge Phish fan and have never really liked that song. Way too emo for me. But I'll check out the DMB version.

Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole is awesome.

I was about to type this, although on further reflection, I would just say it's different and very good, rather than being "better" than Judy Garland's version.

The Pusher by Steppenwolf - such a good cover that you can't imagine anyone else could've done it.

Never been a big Hendrix fan, but "All along the Watchtower" is probably the best cover of a Dylan tune. I still can't say it is better than the original.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dylan thought it was better that’s why he never performed the original arraignment again he only did Jimi's version
