Default very basic AK situation, what is my general line? $10 NL

Hey all. Just wondering what the preferred line is in this situation (i.e., playing AK OOP)? I get into it fairly often, and don't really know how to deal with it. Villian is unknown, as I've just sat down.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Button ($6.60)
SB ($9.90)
Hero ($10)
UTG ($9.15)
MP ($11.45)
CO ($10.40)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO calls $0.10, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.5</font>, CO calls $0.40.

Flop: ($1.05) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $1</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to $3</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero ?????? </font>

Is this a call, check fold turn? That seems so weak. Call, check call down? If he has a set or KQ or a poorly played AA I'm just giving money away to his value bets. What to do?

Default Re: very basic AK situation, what is my general line? $10 NL

In this kind of close situation I rely a lot on reads/pahud. Against a Tight pf player who seems decent, I will call the flop raise and proceed very catiously. I do not want to play for stacks with TPTK against a decent TAG.

If villian is maniacal or awful preflop (50/10, 60/15) etc., showed down garbage in other, I am more inclined to play for stacks.

I will also take TPTK farther if it is possible that an opponent is drawing. IF the board has flush and straight draws out, I am more likely to felt AK than if the board is very dry.

It's an inexact science of when to take TPTK all the way down, but hope some of that helps.

Danny
