Default Squeeze-play Shove on Second Hand...

So I was surprised to see one of my buddies (MP in this hand, and by buddy I mean...you know...person I like taking money from) sitting at a table with ALL deepstacks. Other players in the hand are relatively unknown though I think I've played with BB before and he seemed to be bad.

Ultimate Bet NL $10 (6-handed)
Stack Sizes:
Hero (SB) - $10.10
BB - 11.00
UTG - 11.62.
MP - 16.06.
CO - 35.73.
Button - 9.08.

Preflop:
Hero is SB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG folds, MP raises to $.35, CO calls, Button calls, Hero raises to $1.85, BB folds, MP calls, CO calls, Button folds.

Flop ($6.00): 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero bets $8.25 and is all-in...

I think this looks like a pretty obvious overpair. Would anyone else do this?

why attack so early? i mean, i tend to get a read before trying one of these moves. you have two callers in between your squeeze and you are in really bad shape if it fails. given the flop, however, i push there as well with the monster draw (i would think at least 13 clean outs).

Well the preflop play is debatable. I'd rather have stronger reads on the 2 cold callers before I tried something like that. The flop shove is perfect IMO.

Betting $5 rather than shoving makes it look like a value bet rather than wanting a fold (which is what you actually want), and hence is more likely to have the desired effect.

The only problem is, if we bet $5, I only have 3.25 behind so regardless of the turn card, it's all going in anyway. I wanted it to look like I had an overpair and I was pushing out all the draws on this wet board, so I figured the best way to do it would be to shove.

Very nice play - I love it! Maybe not so early in session though and probably not good at these stakes - but you have to make a play like this every now and then just to be a playa.

I highlighted the good part of your post. The rest contradicts it.

I dont like the raise in the sb with such a vunerable hand. SB is a bad place to be raising with a drawing hand, youre out of pos the entire hand.
