It is mostly hold'em now

That's what I was afraid of. I may go anyways, as an excuse to get of out town for a day or two. I noticed on their website that they have a hotel now; that would beat staying in Marshalltown like I used to do.

This thread mentioned a HOE game. That would be fun as they don't have mixed games in Minnesota for some reason.

i know i have heard a 1-2 PL HO game goes every so often along with a 4-8 limit HOE game - I am not sure how often they run but might be worth calling the poker room there as I am sure they could tell you if there is a regular time those run

Thanks for the heads up...unfortunately the lack of an attached hotel sank my hopes of going to Prairie Meadows and the last time I drove the extra distance to Council Bluffs it was so busy that I didn't play a hand (5-6 hour wait) so Tama is it. I'm hoping that someone has been there on a weekend since the remodel and has some good news!

Where did you attempt to play?
Did You know that Horeshoe now operates a room at Bluffs Run in Council Bluffs?

I've heard the 1/2 NL games are plentiful.

The last time I was in CB, Horseshoe was just being started and poker was being spread in a small, packed room at Harrah's. I do understand that the room at Bluff's Run is very nice.

As it turned out, the weekend we planned to go to IA to play was the same weekend as the blizzard last month and the highway was closed so the trip was postponed (we ended up in Hinckley).

nice new room, nice attached 400 room hotel...nada booze, dining options limited to an OK buffet and a deli...gets really crowded on weekends with bus loads of little old ladies for the bingo action
