The border crossing is hell, but its worth it to play somewhere nicer than Detroit.

Explain, please? Though you could argue that the rake might be a little high, I found both Motor City and Greektown poker rooms to be pleasant places to play. I don't understand the hatin' other than it's just an automatic, mindless comment to dis Detroit.

Why didn't you ask for a table change? They had about 7 of them going last night

MCC and Greektown are fine if you play NL or $10-$20 or even the tournaments. The low limit games are raked on the high side and on a non-busy night constantly encounter short tables.

Here are some common gripes:

1) The valet at Greektown takes very long (1/2 hour)
2) The smoke at Greektown is ridiculous
3) The dealers are slow and bad at Greektown and MCC
4) Not much in the way of comps, MCC sandwiches are sometimes rotten.
5) The rake at MCC is a dollar more, no must move means more short tables, often no rake reduction at short tables
6) The floor people dont often answer the phone at Greektown, especially if they are busy
7) There is no way to see where you are at on the list at Greektown, and you have ten seconds after they call you before they give away your seat
8) Greektown charges $6/hf hr on a $100 max buy-in NL game
9) Supervisors at Greektown often are rude and patronizing
10) MCC supervisors and dealers are not consistant in their rulings from day to day
11) MCC inside poker room is extremely crowded, certain seats are very uncomfortable
12) MCC outside poker room is very noisy due to slots, on given nights you cant hear yourself think

I'm sure there are more, this all I can think of right now.
I'm sure others will concur.

Looking for the best Detroit casino for 3/6 or 5/10 Limit (Greektown, Motor City, etc.). Mainly looking to see who has a fair rake structure and secondly game availability during the week. Thanks.

There are no "fair rake structure" low limit games at Greektown nor Motor City. They are max. $6, & jackpot drop. I think "jackpot" drops are a ripoff IN SOME PLACES LIKE DETROIT. There are schemes where the joint itself finances "mini jackpot" awards or prizes to players, to attract them to the place, but the casino greed thing is paramount in the Detroit operations.

Motor City has an array of those max buy-in no limit (time collection, no jackpot)games and a 10/20 limit game (rake max $6 & $1 jackpot). Motor City announces those one table tournaments at various times during the day.

After an absence of more than a year, I was pleasantly surprised Motor City's overall poker room operation has improved about 100%. I don't live there, so I don't know what happened. When the new Motor City room opens, I hope someone posts it here.

Any idea when the MGM is supposed to open, or for that matter the new MC room?

MGM in October, unofficially from a friend that works in the office.

Motor City sometime this month from various dealers and floor. Walking around the first floor about 2 weeks ago, it didn't look anywhere near ready but I've heard April from everyone I've asked. Doesn't seem like it'll be much of an improvement, same number of tables and surrounded by slots.

OP, go to Motor City if only for poker. Better staff, dealers, waitresses, etc. Go to Greektown for other activities, dinner, nightlife, etc.
