Default open shoving AK early

it actually isnt me but a post on BBV

topic

his reasoning is because people will call with lower aces early on. he says he is a winning player but wont post his SN...does his argument have some merit, or just another fish arguing...ive always had the notion that thats not a winning play...

I think you need more than a notion that this would be bad. In my opinion, yes, it is bad, for two main reasons. First, you're gambling early game, and giving up your biggest edge which is late game play. Additionally, if you throw in 22-AA, and AJo+

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 50.870% 46.15% 04.72% 1327717356 135639654.00 { AKs, AKo }
Hand 1: 49.130% 44.42% 04.72% 1277674056 135639654.00 { 22+, AJs+, AJo+ }

Take away AJ

Board:
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 47.978% 42.95% 05.03% 1094263608 128163894.00 { AKs, AKo }
Hand 1: 52.022% 46.99% 05.03% 1197316956 128163894.00 { 22+, AQs+, AQo+ }

Don't think I need to say more.

I think it's true. Just watch 5 low limit sng's and you'll see why.
