Default Mostly weekday trip to Vegas...what to play?

Hi all,

I'm making my first trip to Vegas on Spring Break with four friends this Saturday. Getting in Saturday afternoon and staying til Friday morning. I definitely want to hit the tables (probably start at 4/8 and see how things go...I play 2/4 party and 5/10 Pacific if anyone has some recommendations for games).

But my question is since this is going to be Spring Break, I'll be going out most nights. I'll be relegated to play during daytime and early evening, and won't be able to take advantage of the drunks unless I don't go out (which might happen one night). My question is where should I play to have the best opportunity to still come out ahead (at the tables at least) for the trip? I play limit cash games and NL tourneys, and feel pretty comfortable with both.

I was thinking of hitting the Sahara tourneys a few times, but am kinda out of ideas right now. Anyone have any good recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Drunks play at all times of day in Vegas, from my experiance drunk players are not necessarily bad players in Vegas. Good luck

At the 4-8 level I don't think you can go wrong playing anywhere in LV. For a first trip you should absolutely check out Bellagio and Wynn (the 2 fanciest rooms, imo). Caesars and MGM are good choices also.

If you want to try a 'funky' place, and get drunk while playing, you might like The Orleans. It's mostly locals, the game has good action with bad players and the cocktail waitresses with half their butts sticking out will bring you drinks fast.

2-4 at Party is much tighter than almost any 4-8 game you'll find at the bigger casinos in Vegas (because it is usually the lowest limit, exception MGM). So if you are comfortable playing higher the 8-16 at Wynn might have about the skill level you are ust to from Party. If all goes well take a shot at 15-30, think the Bellagio has better games at that limit tho. Sahara tournaments are high rake but if you are playing for fun I guess it doesn't matter much.

I heard the Sahara tourneys are some of the best value for your money in terms of good structure? Maybe I read it wrong. Does anyone have any good recommendations for daily tourneys with a good structure that doesn't make it into a total crapshoot in an hour?

Caesars I think has a great $80 +50 add on during the week. Or if you want Wynn $330 Tuesday - Friday are both goood. 40 minute levels I think the starting chips are around 4K

The 15/30 at the Bellagio was wonderfully juicy at all times of the day and night when I was there last week. Very nice room, very soft game.

For 4/8, all the games will be pretty soft. I played 4/8 for about 30 minutes at the Bellagio while waiting for the 15 game to go one morning and there were at least three people at the table who'd never played poker before. I don't know if that's typical, but the play was correspondingly soft. If you play at the Wynn, the play will still be very soft, but in my experience it's more LAG type soft than passive type soft.

Harrah's card room has super soft games -- 3/6, 4/8 usually.
