[ QUOTE ]
And a time for every purpose under Heaven. [/ QUOTE ] All right...as long as we're quoting Scripture: "Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman." - 1 Corinthians 7:1 |

My last long post was entirely in earnest, Diaspora and all. I DO NOT EXIST TO AMUSE YOU.

Re: Nice guys finish last
It is perhaps fitting to quote a verse from the Gospel of Cheech & Chong:
"Bailiff, whack his peepee!" |

Re: Nice guys finish last
[ QUOTE ]
One of a small handful of key features of my personality is an enormous, highly developed White Knight / Hero complex. I'm very earnest in my relationships, I enjoy helping people and building them up, and problems strengthen my resolve rather than drive me away. This is a core component of my self-image. I doubt I'm capable of stepping away from it and have no desire to do so anyway, because I think it's the Right Way to Be. [/ QUOTE ] I like this about you. I don't think you should stop and I know you won't stop and I know you don't care about other people's opinion on this really because you know what you have to do. I think we have to be what we have to be. You and I are not that different, Cardo. And I agree, it is the Right Way to be. btw, I had to look up the word "equivocating." Tell me, how am I equivocating? |

Re: Nice guys finish last
Hello, everyone. I don't normally post here, mainly lurk, because I feel like I don't have much to add on this board(it's great), but as a former "nice guy" I feel like I can on this one.
I think the key to not being a so called "nice guy" is to get something going for yourself. By that I mean, do stuff that makes you feel like an individual and distinguishes you from everybody else. Find hobbies, read, etc. etc. It's kind of like the cliche "You've got to love yourself before you love someone else". Once you get a stronger sense of who you are you will feel less of a need to cater to other people's needs all the time. At least it helped me. |
