Folding KK preflop (10-20)
In a 10-20 live game, I had KK in the small blind. four people limp. A player on the button makes it 200 to go. The button player is a very loose player who's called raises with 22, 35-off, etc, but has been catching lot's of cards. I reraise 400 more, making it six hundred to go. Everyone folds to the button and he goes all-in. I have 2400 left and he has about 6000. I keep thinking he has AK, QQ or maybe even AQ or JJ. The large over-bet of 200 made me think that he was just trying to take the pot right there. I call, he shows me AA and I lose the pot.
Is my hand a "insta-muck?" With position, I thought he would have more likely smooth called with AA instead of pushing.... |

No, it's not an insta muck....
It's an insta-muck followed by a double fist pump while throwing your cards up in the air, and a yell of "boo-ya" celebrating the great fold you just made. |

Re: Folding KK preflop (10-20)
I don't think KK is ever an insta-muck in a cash game. However, with that said, you have accomplished what you wanted with the re-raise. You've considerably cut down the field as you are OOP, and you have re-raised for value against a loose "caller." However, a loose caller can still be a tight raiser--especially 4 better pre-flop when you've let it be known you have a big hand. His four bet all-in is, in a way, a benefit of your re-raise. Your aggression has helped defined his hand. With 2400 behind you, there's no need to call without the nuts in this spot. You're up against AA most of the time here for this fold save money in the long run. Its not an insta-muck but its still a clear fold in a cash game given stack sizes, and given that you haven't seen villain make a 4 bet all-in against anyone else without holding AA.

Re: Folding KK preflop (10-20)
Why would u play KK preflop?
Fold with so many limpers, one of them is bound to hit a set. |
