I think my point is that if there was a rule somewhere at bellagio that specifically outlined the way these situations are ruled then it would be fine, i think tex's words were "if you made that ruling for 10k you'd have to get the money from my cold dead hands".

If it's gonna be your policy to rule like this, it should be someone on a plaque in the high limit room at bellagio.

I witnessed this situation last night at the Bellagio, and while you do have a valid point, you are not recounting the situation correctly. I wholeheartedly agree that players should be as vigilant as possible for angle shooters in highstakes games, but this particular hand wasn't even close to a good example. The all-in player had 1300 In CHIPS and 3000 in bills. When asked how much, he pointed to the bill packet and stated "This is three thousand." It was totally obvious he meant the bills. It seemed as though neither player was anything more than careless. If anyone was angling, though, it was Tex. Just a clarification. I don't disagree with your intent in posting.

i wasn't saying that the hand that happened was an angle, i was saying the resulting ruling was a dangerous precendence for angles later on, the only person that messed up this given hand was the dealer

It's pretty standard in allin situations for the first player to announce allin verbally, the other player to call verbally and the dealer to burn and turn with hardly any chip movement. If Tex had asked the dealer what the bet was, that would be a different story. The dealer isn't really at fault here. Also since the player clearly stated that the bills totaled 3000 and had visible chips( more than one stack,) the only person who made a mistake would be the caller. If you ask the dealer to verify the amounts, I think that would protect you from most of the ways you could be deceived here. Taking another player's word about his stacksize is naive at best.

My friend was in a hand at T-Stone.

Guy makes a bet. He raises allin. Guy asks how much and dealer says it is [ some nominal amount] . Guy makes a comment about how hes stuck and makes what seems like an easy call with a gutshot getting monster odds. Turns out my friend had a lot more money than the dealer stated. Guy rivers his gutshot and takes the money.

Not sure what would have happened if the guy misses his gutshot though.

I asked a guy once how much he had in bills. He said around 2000. I asked him how much he had exactly and he told me 2000. I then asked the dealer to count it and it turns out he had >$4000....The moral is, if you don't know people, be skeptical.
