Question For Sit n Go Pros
I would think that every single one of you come in third more often than first or any other place. True or not? In nine handed sit n gos with 50 30 20 splits. I'd guess the typical pro comes in first about 11%, second about 13% and third about 16%. Is that about right?

Re: Question For Sit n Go Pros
Hardly would I consider myself a "pro" at SNGs. But I am a winning player. My stats play out differently.
1st~13% 2nd-10% 3rd-12% Of my money finishes: 1st-37.7% 2nd~28.4% 3rd-33.9% |

Re: Question For Sit n Go Pros
when i played sngs exclusively i think i got more 1sts than anything else. I think the better sng player, the more 1sts and 4ths you have compared to 2nd and 3rds

Re: Question For Sit n Go Pros
I'm not a pro, but the pros will tell you not true and that their distributions are something like 14/13/12 or 14/12/11.
What's the reasoning for the distribution you asked about? |

Re: Question For Sit n Go Pros
A pro with your distribution of 11-13-16 should get another job real soon as it is only about 4-5% ROI depending on the tournament fee.
I would say the goal should be to have low values for 4th and 2nd and high for 3rd and 1st. Your main goal is to cash and than gamble it up with 3 left to become first. This month I'm at 15-12-13-11 after 500 tournys at 15+1 and 25+2. Many people at that level don't have a clue about push and call ranges heads up though, so it's easier to become first. No, I'm not a pro. |

Re: Question For Sit n Go Pros
I'm talking about $100 sit n gos and up. Lower buy ins require more firsts.

Re: Question For Sit n Go Pros
I used to play low buy-in (<=60 STTs)..and having something like 16% thirds, 12% seconds, 14% firsts was pretty standard..but at those lower buyins, it would be more likely that a player have more firsts than thirds.
I would imagine that at $100 and up, it would be much the same, except a lower chance that a player have more firsts than thirds.. as always, the biggest edge for good STT players is on the bubble, so I'm sure that you are correct about having a high % of thirds. |
