$50+15 Live MTT bubble situation #2
This hand is from a live 40 person MTT at Paris, Las Vegas.
Structure is T2000 for $50+15 Final table - 7 remain, 5 positions pay so we're getting close to the money. Blinds are 500/1000 and I have a stack of 6000 which relative to the table puts me 5th or so in chips with about 3 short stacks running very close to each other (within 1-2k). Short stacked somewhat passive player limps from EP and it’s folded to me in the SB and I see A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Chip leader is to my left in the BB. EP and I are near even in chips. I think I’ve seen him limp on a few other prior hands, but fold later streets, or maybe he doubled up – at this point I can’t remember. Push or wait for a better hand? Additional background – prior orbit BvB vs same CL to my left, I open push from the SB with A7o where he folded and turned my cards over showing only the ace on the bottom – so at this point either remaining player may realize my push range includes Ax. TIA |

I'd wait for a better spot, not necessarily a better hand. After the SB, the short stacks will be put to the test; unlikely all of them will double up to stay around.

Fold, the BB chip leader will probably call with marginal hands. Since A5off isn't that spectacular either, it's probably going to be a race. You don't want to gamble that. Besides you can see 5 more free hands before you have to post again. Push with something like A8+ K9+.

Unless you think the limper is limping a monster, this is a super easy shove. Given your read, I'd say your ahead of the limper. Shove. Everyone folding here is a spectacular result. |

I shove any ace here.

I guess, if he can make it heads up, he has a better chance. I just don't think it's such a good idea if there are a few other short stacks ready to push. A5o is just not the best hand to push in a situation like this.

Re: $50+15 Live MTT bubble situation #2
I fold this and think that you will often be looked up by a better ace.
You are too short to have fold equity against most opponents getting 3:1 (with antes) or 2.5:1 (no antes) here so your shove would have to be for value and I don't think that there is enough value in A5o. I would shove any two cards any time that it is folded to me in the next orbit and if no hands are folded to me I shove blind UTG (which is definitely what you should have done two hands ago) |

A5o is just not the best hand to push in a situation like this. [/ QUOTE ] It would be hard to make any money in a structure like this if you didn't make calls like this. IMO this is a pretty standard push. |

Is this not a good spot for a stop & go?
