Re: The late but official 2007 NYJ offseason thread
Jets signed former 14th overall pick in the 2003 draft, DE Michael Haynes yesterday. This is just a depth move and I'd be surprised if this guy sees significant playing time or even makes the team. Although it can't hurt to take a look at him.
The interesting thing about Haynes is that I think this was one of the picks the Jets gave up to the Bears (the other wound up being Grossman) to move up and snag Robertson at #4 overall. I can't believe that I'm saying this but the Jets might have actually gotten the better end of that deal... Tuiaiuiioaasisssopo's contract is 1-year, $595k. Much cheaper than what the Jets were due to pay Ramsey this year. The only problem is that if this guy takes the field were are in deep [censored] (2005 all over again). |

Wtf?
From ProFootballTalk.com [ QUOTE ] JETS DUST ONE OFF Adam Schefter of NFLN reports that the New York Jets have signed defensive end Andre Wadsworth, who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1998 draft. Wadsworth last played in the 2000 season. That's six years out of football, folks. Six years. If he can make it all the way back, it's time for another Disney movie. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: The late but official 2007 NYJ offseason thread
Colt,
The Jets have now gone out and brought in 2 former 1st round bustos in Haynes and Wadsworth. I'm sure these are minimum or near minimum 1 year deals designed to create some competition in training camp, which Mangini loves. I wouldn't read too much into this as it's doubtful that either of these guys actually make the team. It almost seems that they are attempting to take a page out of the Broncos playbook, who actually had a bit of success with this. |

Supposedly since being out of the game he's been very sucessful and just wants to see if his knees can hold up at all. Doubtful he makes the team. IN OTHER GOOD NEWS WE SIGNED BOWENS TOO AND HE WILL MAKE THE TEAM!. |

Hopefully Bowens can be the speed rusher that this defense needs to play on the opposite side of Thomas. DE & OLB needs seem to have been filled through FA. So now I'm assuming we are going to see a CB and some more OL building with our first 3 picks. I wouldn't be surprised to see a TE or NT either. |

Here's hoping for Blaylock in the 1st... |

Re: The late but official 2007 NYJ offseason thread
At first I wanted to go CB and thought it a no brainer but if neither of the top 2 CBs are there my pick is
Drafting 3 first round olineman in 2 years is pretty sweet. |
