Theory Question
In the middle rounds of a turbo 3 table tournament; blinds 300/600 avg stack 4k, what is the worst pocket pair you would call with vs. a big stack who pushed pre-flop every hand?
What is the weakest non-pair hand you'd call with? You have an average stack and can assume its going to be HU. |

Re: Theory Question
If he's pushing preflop with every hand I'd call with any pair.

Re: Theory Question
I would say there is alot that goes into that that changes what answer I would have. How many places pay? What place are you in/how many are left? What's your M/ BS's M?
In general, I'd say that if we were farther away from the bubble and I have a M < 10 as is the case with an average stack and a turbo as you described, I'd probably call with any pair. As an example, however, there are 6 left and 5 pay, and you're in third, you have more to lose by calling and losing than if you fold, and the small stacks in that case have more to gain by you going out then you have by winning. Check out Harrington on Hold Em, Vol. 3. There's 4 problems in there (somewhere in the high 30's) about SNG bubble play and what you need to call. while this is not specifically a bubble question it is similar. |
